It is high time the multiple documents and strategies about the Bulgarians living abroad turned into real policy, Bulgaria’s Vice President Iliana Iotova said on Sunday. Vice President Iotova met with representatives of the Bulgarian community in Venice (Italy). Iliana Iotova discussed with the representatives of the Bulgarian diaspore possibilities for establishing an Association of the Bulgarians living in Veneto region. Bulgaria’s Vice President Iotova mentioned the topic related to possible establishment of a weekend school there. Bulgaria should not lead a defensive policy towards its citizens abroad. In her words, the lack of enough cultural institutes abroad is clearly noticed now, when Bulgaria is preparing for the forthcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
