The hearing of Bulgaria’s EU Commissioner-designate Mariya Gabriel at the European Parliament was held on Tuesday. Mariya Gabriel answered a series of questions related to the reform of the single digital market. Gabriel’s hearing was followed by many positive comments by members of the European socialists, the European conservatives and the Group of The Greens. MEP Silvia Costa from the Group of the Progressive Alliance of the Socialists and Democrats commented that the groups of the socialists and the conservatives expressed positive attitude towards Gabriel’s candidature. Julia Reda from the Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance said she did not expect any problems related to the appointment of Mariya Gabriel as Commissioner for Digital Economy. The coordinator of the European People’s Party in the Culture and Education Committee Sabine Ferheyen was confident that Mariya Gabriel would earn the majority of the votes.
