Bulgaria among countries with lowest life expectancy in EU

The average life expectancy in Bulgaria for the 2014-2016 period is 74.7 years, National Statistical Institute data show.

The average life expectancy for men is 71.2 years and for women 78.2 years. Alongside Latvia (74.8) and Lithuania (74.6 years), Bulgaria is among the countries with the lowest life expectancy of the population in the EU, the highest being in Spain (83) and in Italy (82.7 years).
