Asked by the Bulgarian National Radio to comment on the criticism Turkey levelled at Bulgaria that it is restricting the political rights of minorities, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs replied that Bulgarian citizens wishing to exercise their right to vote on Turkish territory are given an opportunity to do so at diplomatic missions, but also at polling stations especially opened in the country for their convenience. The Ministry takes a positive view of the assurances by the Turkish side that it will abide by the rules established and will ensure that the holding of the Bulgarian parliamentary elections on its territory shall run smoothly. Regarding the comment by Turkey’s minister of labour, that Sofia’s recent allegations of “financial stimuli” for people with Bulgarian citizenship in Turkey are unfounded rumours, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated for the BNR that it reaffirms its position and that it has a complete recording of the minister’s words.
