International Power Supply (IPS) is a company with nearly thirty years of experience in development and manufacture of power supply systems used in telecommunications, power engineering and defense fields, as well as for independent production and storage of electricity in regions without power grids. The European Investment Fund, American and Greek companies are shareholders in International Power Supply. During the latest increase of the company's equity capital an international company from the engineering field and the construction of power plants acquired shares when the market value of the company amounted to EUR 100 million. Here is what CEO of International Power Supply Alexander Rangelov told Radio Bulgaria:
“The system for independent power supply EXERON is our top product. That technology won the Intersolar 2014 world innovation award for Electrical Energy Storage in Munich, Germany. EXERON is a smart hybrid power system with varied range of applications. Thanks to EXERON, people can obtain continuous and efficient power with varied power sources such as sun, wind, diesel generators and power grid (if available). The system manages produced electricity and supplies power to various energy consumers. A battery is used to store energy for later use in night time. Some of our projects are very challenging, because they require specific know-how, high level of creativity and perfect endurance of the equipment in areas with a lot of dust, sand, humidity and extreme temperatures. It is a great technological challenge to secure independent and continuous supply of electricity in such conditions. However, EXERON deal successfully in the most difficult environment. It provides cathodic protection of oil pipelines, provides power supply to towers of telecommunication operators and remote areas where access is very difficult. It also provides power supply to hospitals and schools which use unreliable diesel generators and have high exploitation costs.”
IPS has launched systems in 56 countries on seven continents. It is interesting to note that the first EXERON system was sent to the scientific and research base in Antarctica. The Bulgarian company operates mainly in Africa, the Middle East and Asia, because the number of people without access to electricity there is highest. There are nearly 1.6 billion people worldwide without reliable access to electricity.
The first factory of IPS in Bulgaria will be constructed near the city of Kardzhali (Southeast Bulgaria). A special education program containing contemporary curriculum will be launched in the local technical school with the participation of experts from International Power Supply. IPS will also provide technical assistance and practical help in modern laboratories. Thus, the technical school in Kardzhali will be able to train qualified people who would later join the high-tech company.
More from IPS CEO Alexander Rangelov:
“We are planning to play important role in our niche in Africa, Asia, Australia and South America in the long run. We are currently working on other innovative products such as smart power supply networks, sharing of accumulated energy, etc. The company's next big goal is to be listed on the stock exchange. We want to be the first Bulgarian company traded on the New York stock exchange. We believe that the off-grid renewable energy systems and the smart networks are the future. We have one of the best technologies on the market and hopefully our equity capital will reach EUR 1 billion when we appear on the stock exchange.”
Here is what Alexander Rangelov said about the energy independence:
“The dependence on centralized energy sources due to technical or political reasons will pose bigger risks to the economy, the business, the households and the citizens. The energy independence is very important. The systems for electricity production, including those which use renewable sources, must be decentralized. Thus, pollution levels will be reduced. At the end of the day, we must keep our planet clean, because although Elon Musk has already announced his plan to colonize Mars, Earth is one and only and we will not have any alternative any time soon.”
