We haven’t found the reasons for today’s heavy explosion near Hitrino train station, Bulgaria’s outgoing Minister of Transport Ivaylo Moscovski told the Bulgarian National Radio. According to eyewitnesses, sparks came out of the cargo train upon entering the train station. The switchman who was on duty on Saturday morning also suffered skin burns and was later hospitalized. He saw sparks coming out of the train engine the moment the cargo train was approaching the junction at Hitrino train station, Ivaylo Moscovski announced. The railway infrastructure was in good condition. Many cargo trains go through Hitrino train station on a daily basis, outgoing Minister Moscovski specified.
