EC has transferred 101 million euros to Bulgaria to deal with migration, approval of 50 more pending

EC spokesperson Natasha Bertaud has said that out of requested by Bulgaria 160 million euros to combat illegal migration, 101 million have already been transferred, while the approval of 50 million more was pending. 82 million of the money will be used for curbing migration pressures and expanding opportunities for integrated monitoring and modernization of communication systems at the external borders of Bulgaria. On December 2 Bulgaria asked that some 18.9 million euro be used for several refugee centers, which according to the needs could be used for centers for initial reception or accommodation centers, depending on the needs. The spokesman made the comments on the occasion of comments by Vice-President-elect Iliana Yotova that in order to receive the aide Bulgaria took the commitment to build 3 new refugee centers.
