The prosecutor’s office is bringing charges of malfeasance against outgoing Defence Minister Nikolay Nenchev over an agreement with Poland for repairs of Bulgaria’s MiG-29 fighter jets.
Minister Nehcnev stated that he was perplexed by this step by the prosecutor’s office which is accusing him of “harming” Russia’s interests. According to the prosecution, Nenchev has perpetrated a serious criminal offence by deliberately failing to enforce contracts with the Russian company RSK MiG for prolonging the lifespan and for repairs of the engines of MiG-29 fighters amounting to 3,773,000 euro.
