Official donations at latest Presidential campaign amount to nearly EUR 500,000

Money donations amounting to EUR 446,530 and non-monetary grants to the tune of EUR 615 have been declared to the National Audit Office by the participants at the latest Presidential elections. The number of money donations amounted to 1,731 and the number of non-monetary donations amounted to 1,728. The Presidential nominees used 61 passenger vehicles and 89 services gratuitously. According to the Election Code, the participants at the election campaign must submit a report to the National Audit Office within 30 working days after the end of the campaign. The report must contain information about the revenues, the real expenditures and the debts of the nominees. Contributors who donate EUR 212 or more must declare the origin of the donation. If they fail to do so, they are subject to very serious sanctions ranging from EUR 500 to 1,500. The candidates for President and Vice-President, as well as the members of their initiative committees are obliged to file such declarations to the National Audit Office.
