Over 1,000 Bulgarians from the village of Boyanovo (Elhovo municipality) launched a street protest against the decision of Bulgaria’s cabinet to build a refugee center there. People from the cities of Burgas, Sliven and Yambol also joined the protest. According to the plans, up to 300 refugees can be accommodated temporarily in 52 caravans at the premises of former barracks near Boyanovo. The protest against the construction of the closed-type center was organized in the social media. Last week over 200 people in Yambol protested against the construction of another refugee center. Interior Minister Rumiana Bachvarova has assured Boyanovo mayor Krastio Draganov that the security of the local population will be guaranteed.
