According to the first results published after yesterday’s voting, Bokova placed fourth after Serbian Vuk Jeremic and Slovak Miroslav Lajcak. However, Reuters analysts contend that Irina Bokova outruns those two candidates, because Jeremic received one discouraging vote more by the permanent members of the UN Security Council and Slovak Lajcak gathered less overall support.
