Bulgaria officially requests EUR 160 million from EU to deal with migration crisis

Bulgaria has officially requested from the European Commission a financial aid to the tune of EUR 160 million to deal with the migration pressure. The document was prepared by the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior and consists of five projects- about the renovation of the technical equipment for border control, about the expansion of the capabilities for integrated surveillance, about modernization of the communication and information systems. The fifth project aims at boosting the capacity of the asylum centers. The EU financing is expected to be provided under the Internal Security Fund and the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund. The European Commission is to assess Bulgaria’s request in short terms.
