Cooperation in combating illegal migration and trafficking was the topic of discussion between Bulgarian Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova and Austrian counterpart Wolfgang Sobotka. The Austrian minister supported the position of Bulgaria that the dialogue with Turkey should continue. According to Bachvarova, the burden of care for migrants with refugee status must be evenly distributed. The two ministers also discussed the possibility of establishing centers for registration of asylum seekers near or in the countries of their origin. Rumyana Bachvarova has also met with the Deputy Director of the Frontex Agency, Berndt Koerner.
