Bulgaria registered the highest wheat yield since 1980. The total produce this year amounted to 5.6 million tons, Bulgaria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Desislava Taneva said. The average yield per 1,000 square meters amounts to 494 kilos. In Minister Taneva’s words, the quality of the wheat is better than last year’s one. Currently, the total quantity of wheat in Bulgaria amounts to 6.6 million tons, including some quantities from last year’s crop. That country uses for local consumption just over 2 million tons of wheat only and nearly 69% of the produce is exported. Over 3 million tons of wheat are traded until the next crop is collected, Minister Taneva further commented.
