The National Anti-Doping Laboratory has refused to take a sample from athlete Silvia Danekova after her return from the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro where she tested positive for a banned substance.
In an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio, Danekova said she had taken this step so as to be tested by an independent laboratory and have the accusations against her dismissed.
“I must clear my name and prove I am right. I don’t want to go to war with the World Anti-Doping Agency, I want to prove I am right here, in Bulgaria, to all people who have supported me,” Danekova said.
Chair of the Bulgarian Athletics Federation Dobromir Karamarinov explained also for the BNR that competitors could not require tests.
