Pliska is not a regular historical site; it is very different from all the rest, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said while paying a visit to Bulgaria’s first capital in the Southeastern part of the country. There he inspected archeological work on the Grand Basilica. The prime minister voiced the cabinet’s commitment to the project. He said this site was of key importance for Christianity and the alphabet. Tourists who have visited Pliska in the recent year have increased by 25,000. Boyko Borissov said they were set to rise as the restoration of the Basilica progressed.
