Arrests took place in Spain where a criminal organization active in smuggling cigarettes, operating in Spain, and led by Bulgarian citizens, has been disrupted. The operation is yet another example of the fruitful cooperation between the Chief Directorate "Combating Organized Crime" at the Ministry of Interior of Bulgaria and the National Police and the Spanish Customs Surveillance Directorate. So far, 20 Bulgarian and two Spanish citizens have been arrested. Three illegal factories for production of cigarettes and owned by the Bulgarian criminal organization have been discovered. Judging by the volume of seized cigarettes and equipment, the operation can be considered a major one in the fight against organized crime, it was announced.
