In the event of outstanding migration pressure, Bulgaria will dispatch people to the EU’s external borders, as part of the new European Border and Coast Guard Agency, said European Parliament rapporteur Artis Pabriks.
The new agency, planned as an extension of Frontex will be better equipped and organized and will have a staff of 1,500 who can be dislocated along the external borders of the EU if the need arises. Each country will send a different number of staff to the agency; Bulgaria will provide 40, Greece – 50. If necessary they will be in the field within 5 days.
