In an interview with French television channel France 24, Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev has warned that the referendum in the UK and its result is a signal for Europeans not to succumb to the influence of populists and nationalists, but to adhere to European values. "Nowhere in the world has populism proved able to resolve the problems of societies, no matter whether they are economic or security ones," the president said. In talks over UK exiting the European Union Bulgaria will be defending the right of free movement of Bulgarians and all Europeans in the UK, he added.
