A total of 340 visits by cruise ships are expected in and around Rousse on the Danube this tourist season, which opened in April and will close in November.

As always, the greatest number of tourists come from USA and Germany – 3,867 and 3,734 respectively, followed by passengers from Great Britain – 1,100, France – 920, Australia and Switzerland with 760 and Canada – 630. More than half of the holidaymakers are aged over 65 and only 2 percent are under 35. A total of 170 ships run by 15 companies are operating along the Danube – by way of comparison their number at the turn of this century stood at 100.
