Bulgarian Minister of Education Meglena Kuneva has said there was no disparity between her and the premier and finance minister over teachers’ wages. On Monday Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said he had learned from the media about a possible 10% rise in salaries paid to teachers. It was Kuneva who broke the news about the pay rise to teachers last weekend. She quoted figures released by experts that 120 million leva (60 million euro) was needed for the pay rise and added that about 47,000 teachers were going to reach retirement age in the coming ten years.
