The price of electricity in Bulgaria will not go up after the Court of Arbitration in Geneva ruled that Bulgaria pay EUR 550 million in compensation to Russia's Atomstroyexport for the two nuclear reactors commissioned for the cancelled Belene NPP project, said Bulgarian Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova in an interview for NOVA TV channel. In her words this will not happen, “because NEC (the National Electric Company) is going to receive a real asset”. Minister Petkova further said that the reactors for the Belene NPP could be sold in Iran or India. According to her, 30 days after receiving the Court’s ruling, Bulgaria will initiate talks with the Russian company Atomstroyexport for finding the best solution to the problem.
