Bulgaria’s education does not fully meet the needs of the economy: Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva

Bulgaria’s education does not fully meet the needs of the local economy, EU Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources Kristalina Georgieva told media during her visit to the town of Elena on Saturday. In hew view, the European Union can help that country with analyses and financing, but the solution of that problem was entirely in the hands of the country’s authorities. There are many people with university degree in Bulgaria who are struggling to find a job or stay jobless. Bulgaria places second in the EU after Belgium with regard to the disproportion between demand and supply on the labor market. 14% of the university graduates can not find a job. Therefore, the local universities produce unemployment, Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva further said.
