The number of Bulgarian citizens making tourist trips in the first trimester of 2016 saw a 4.8% decrease as compared to the same period in 2015, the National Statistical Institute informs. A total of 550,200 Bulgarians made tourist trips in the first trimester of the year. 83.5% of all people travelled in Bulgaria, 14% of them made trips abroad and 2.5% of the Bulgarians travelled both in their home country and abroad, NSI further informs. Compared with the first trimester of 2015 the number of Bulgarian nationals making tourist trips in Bulgaria dwindled with 5%. The number of Bulgarians making trips abroad dropped with 3.5% during that period. 44% of the Bulgarians who were on trips in the first quarter of 2016 were aged between 22 and 44. The Bulgarian citizens spent an average of EUR 72 on trips in Bulgaria and EUR 315 on a travel abroad.
