Bodra Pesen (Cheerful Song) children’s choir from the town of Shumen led by conductor Denitsa Uzunova is the winner in this year’s Musician of the Year poll held annually by the Allegro Vivace show of Bulgarian National Radio’s Horizont channel. “To us this award is a podium to present present-day Bodra Pesen choir, a group with long history that we owe to its founder Prof. Veneta Vitcheva, Denitsa Uzunova said in an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio. For the first time in the 25 years of the poll the Grand Prix has gone to a choir. The Debut prize went to 432 Chamber Orchestra led by Ivan Yanakiev. The Best Young Musician of the Year is Maria-Desislava Stoycheva, a high school student from Plovdiv, and the year’s Best Music Project – the Festival Orchestra of the National School of Arts in the city of Rousse. The listeners of Allegro Vivace have also singled out choral conductor Prof. Stoyan Kralev for lifetime achievement and opera diva Hristina Angelakova for an exclusive contribution into Bulgarian culture.
