Being EU members Bulgaria and Slovakia share a series of common stands and priorities and Bulgaria is to use the Slovak experience during the rotational Presidency of the EU Council in 2018, Bulgaria’s President Rossen Plevneliev told media in Slovakia’s capital Bratislava after a meeting with his Slovak counterpart Andrej Kiska. Bulgaria and Slovakia support the process of the EU enlargement towards the Western Balkans, President Plevneliev further pointed out. Presidents Plevneliev and Kiska also discussed measures for improvement of energy connectivity, in order to achieve competitive energy prices and guarantee people the freedom to choose between different providers of energy resource. President Plevneliev once again voiced his support towards the establishment of a regional energy market in Southeast Europe. The countries of the Visegrad Group are ahead of Bulgaria in the process of achieving energy diversification and provision of various natural gas sources and routes, said Plevneliev. Bulgaria and Slovakia can also boost cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies, Bulgaria’s head of state further said. The cooperation between Bulgaria and Slovakia in these spheres will help our countries attract more investments and leading IT and ICT companies, President Plevneliev explained.
