Some 110 foreigners in need of international protection will be resettled in Bulgaria during 2016 and in the coming years. This is what the government-approved framework within the national mechanism for the implementation of Bulgaria's commitments on resettlement envisages. Because of the current migration situation several acts have been adopted at EU level regarding the resettlement of persons from third countries. Under the Conclusions of 20 July 2015, EU Member States agreed on multilateral and national schemes in the resettling of 20 000 displaced persons in clear need of international protection. According to this, Bulgaria must accept 20 people this year and 30 more in 2017. According to the agreement between the EU and Turkey, signed on March 18, 2016, a total of 40 persons will be resettled in Bulgaria in the period 2016-2017. The program of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund for the period 2014-2020 provides that after December 31, 2017, twenty more foreigners will be resettled in this country.
