Tsvetan Vasilev takes Bulgaria to court in Strasbourg

Photo: library

Banker Tsvetan Vasilev, accused by the Bulgarian prosecution of draining the Corporate Commercial Bank and of its bankruptcy, announced in Belgrade that he would bring Bulgaria to court in Strasbourg over two cases - one as an individual, and the other on behalf of his company Bromak - a major shareholder in bankrupt CCB. The lawyers of the accused also said they opposed the request of the Bulgarian Prosecutor for Vasilev’s extradition from Serbia, because conditions in Bulgarian jails were bad and the investigation against Vasilev was politically motivated. Last year the Supreme Court of Serbia allowed the extradition of Vassilev, but after an appeal the process started over again.
