Bulgaria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Daniel Mitov met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo in Jakarta as well as with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi. This is the first visit of Bulgarian Foreign Minister to Indonesia since 1965. Minister Mitov and his hosts discussed the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Indonesia, the EU-Indonesia cooperation, the migration problems in Europe and the Middle East crisis. Minister Mitov commented that Bulgarian ports can become an entry point for Indonesian merchandise, which would shorten their route to the European market. Bulgaria will also cooperate with Indonesia in the fight against terrorism, organized crime and other heavy crimes, Bulgaria’s first diplomat further said.
