Forthcoming this week is the anniversary 40th edition of the Jazz meeting in Rousse. The forum traditionally offers a stylish program, presenting some of the most interesting projects on the Bulgarian jazz scene. What could music lovers expect on 27 and 28 November – we talk to Boris Petrov. A saxophonist in the Big Band of the BNR, artistic director of the festival, he has been part of the audience of this festival since he was a kid and in 1983 debuted in the Forum program with the student band "Ragtime." He is the son of Peter Petrov - founder and main organizer of the Jazz Meeting.
"Like every year, we have prepared a strong program, says Boris. November 26 is our pre-festival scene. The project we present is called "Paint music for me” It involves students from the National School of Arts "Prof. Vesselin Stoyanov" in the town. Young musicians will perform and with them on stage there will be young artists from the art classes who will paint to the sounds of music. Entrance to this concert is free.""On November 28, we continue with the band Break Point set up about seven years ago in Rouse where I play from the start. We have a tradition every year to invite new soloists. In this edition of the festival our guest virtuoso will be accordionist Plamen Dimitrov – another musician from Rousse who is constantly giving concerts throughout Europe. This will be followed by the concert of Antoni Donchev - piano and Georgi Donchev - double bass – the well-known Acoustic Version. As the band drummer Hristo Yotzov is on tour in France, Borislav Petrov will replace him. We close the festival with the three amazing girls of Sentimental Swingers and Mihail Yosifov sextet. I am proud that the Jazz meeting in Rousse is held for 40 years now without a single interruption. This edition is dedicated to Petar Petrov - my father. I witnessed how much love and dedication he invested in organizing this festival for our city."
On Saturday an exhibition opens with photos revealing the festival's history. Also movies will be screened.
