The South Stream gas pipeline project has been canceled. This was officially declared by the CEO of "Gazprom" Alexey Miller in front of the Vice-President of the European Commission, Maroš Šefčovič, responsible for energy. "Bulgaria expects discussions to give a clear answer about the future of the South Stream project, said earlier today Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. Miller has pointed out during the talks with Šefčovič, that no other options than "Turkish Stream", are being discussed, and the pipe would be the only way for 63 billion cubic meters of Russian gas, now passing through Ukraine, to reach Europe. Miller warned the European Union that in the best case it has several years to prepare the necessary infrastructure, starting from the Greek-Turkish border. In his words, time is short, and the work on the construction of the pipes on the territory of the EU must start today. Otherwise, the gas from Russia could find a way to other markets.
