The B.T.R. rock band has released 10 albums so far. The previous album was called "Deja Vu" /2008/, and included cover versions of various Bulgarian rock songs performed by Atanas Penev (vocals), Slavcho Nikolov (guitars, vocals), Kiril Bozhkov (guitars), Ivan Kalfov (bass, vocals) and Ilian Dikov (percussion). A spectacular concert of the band took place on June 5 in the Universiada Hall in the capital city of Sofia.
Slavcho Nikolov told us more about the concert:
“We performed the song ‘Nesbudvane’ together with pop singer Mariana Popova and the Strings Quartet. Stoyan Yankulov - Stundzhi played the drums in the song "100 Bagpipes." Piper Kiril Nikorov also took part in it. We combine rock and folk. Pianist of the Te band Yasen Velchev plays the keyboards in most of the compositions. Anton Georgiev of the Ahat rock band was also among the guest musicians. The concert cast a view towards our work from the past 20 years. We also performed a number of songs from our new album.”
10 new songs are included in the new project of the band. Three of them were released in the past year as singles. One of them is a duet song. It is called Nesbudvane or “Unfulfillment.” Music and lyric are by Slavcho Nikolov. The musicians also plan to release a video to it by the end of the year.
The vocal of the band told us more about the Why album:
"Last year we marked our twentieth anniversary but we celebrate the event officially in 2014. The concert on June 5 gave the start of the celebrations. The new album is already on the market. We spent 2 years working on it. It turned out we were willing to experiment. But of course, we remain a rock band. Emil Boyadzhiev is together with us he did the mastering of the album and we are very happy with this. He worked on our previous CD ‘Déjà vu’ and set a high standard of sound quality. It is the same with the new album.”
B.T.R. also starts a national tour that will last all summer and will include most Bulgarian cities.
