Popular American jazzman Kurt Elling gave a concert last night at Hall 3 of the National Palace of Culture. He was invited to perform on the occasion of the BNR’s forthcoming 80th anniversary. This is the first time Kurt Elling has performed in this country and he shared the stage with Bulgarian jazz musicians. His host was Antony Donchev, conductor of the BNR Big Band. Together with Kurt Elling’s formation, he performed new arrangements of some of the jazzman’s most famous pieces as well as compositions from his forthcoming album Passion World.
Kurt Elling has released a total of ten albums. In 2009 he received a Grammy award for his CD Dedicated to You. He has won a number of awards throughout his career – both by the critics and the audience. Besides singing, Kurt Elling also loves to write the lyrics to his songs. In his album Passion World, to be released very soon, the talented jazz singer performs music from France, Italy, Poland, Brazil singing in different languages. A performer of diverse musical talents, he is ever evoking his philosophy of life and of the world in his music.
